CAPTAIN’S REPORT
Guest
of Honour, Miss Maureen Heenan, Captain of Clough Girls
Brigade Company.
Our Girls’ Brigade commenced in September with a night of
Icebreakers, games and party food this was great fun for
all.
It was good to see the girls back again and encouraging
to see some new faces as well.
Lynsey Bennett and Stephanie Barr began their Sub Officer
training and Mrs Elizabeth Perry completed her Officer
Refresher training.
The company followed the GBNI scripture course exploring
God’s promises. Looking at the fact that God is 100%
reliable
and will always do what He says He will do.
A
special word of thanks to Karen Corbett, Elaine Bell, Georgie Abernethy and Elizabeth Perry for teaching the girls
Thanks also to Susan McCann, Elaine Bell and Erin Stevenson
who came to help us with badge work
We entered various competitions during the year and I
congratulate all the girls who competed
The Juniors entered the District marching competition and
gained a Distinction for all their hard work.
For Seniors it was a Netball tournament and we made it
through to the semi finals
Badminton (doubles) was the Brigader competition and Rachel
Jennings and Stephanie Barr gained 3rd place. Well Done
Girls
Although we didn’t win any silverware it was fun taking part
and to meet girls from other companies.
Congratulations go to Lynsey Bennett and Stephanie Barr who
receive their Brigader Brooch tonight.
This is the highest
award a girl can achieve in GB.
In October we held our Enrolment Service, in November we
attended the Remembrance Day Service
and in December we had
our annual Carol Service,
Over the Christmas period we had various events including
our Craft Fair Thank you to all who helped and supported us.
A trip to see Paddington and to McDonalds was organized for
the Explorers and Under 5s while the Company Section went 10
pin bowling
and also had a visit to “McD’s”.
We held “The Great GB Bake Off” in February to raise funds
for GB week. There are many great cooks in GB (but not so
many dishwashers!)
This year our company has supported Debbie and David Colvin
missionaries in Nigeria and Henna Singson in India for his
bible translation work
Our session ended on Sunday 29th March with the District
Church Service and Parade
I thank God for His guidance and grace throughout the
session and for His many promises that He gives to us in His
Word
Special thanks to Rev George Speers our Chaplain, the
officers and associates, I couldn’t manage with-out their
help and support – THANK YOU!
Thanks to parents and friends for your continued support in
so many different ways and a big ‘Thank You’ to the girls
for your loyalty and co-operation
I look forward to seeing all the girls again when we return
in September and encourage them to bring others to Seek,
Serve and Follow Christ.
